While singing he had a cardiac arrest and fell limp onto his harmonium. Maskeen Ji told him to take some rest but he said he will finish singing the Shabad first. in 1990, Maskeen Ji had requested him to sing a Shabad and during the Kirtan he started feeling uncomfortable. He used to attend the annual Samagam organised by Giani Sant Singh Ji Maskeen in Alwar, Rajasthan quite often. That was when he met Bhai Joginder Singh Ji who took him under his wing and guided him. In 1947 he came to Patna Sahib looking for someone to teach him Kirtan. This newly formed jatha served as Hazoori Raagis in Patna Sahib for many years and they also traveled abroad to the UK, Iran and a few other countries.īhai Gurbachan Singh Ji was born in 1938 and when he was very young, he used to accompany Sant Kartar Singh Ji on the ‘dholki’. Prior to this, Bhai Gian Singh Ji accompanied Bhai Samund Singh Ji of Nankana Sahib. Bhai Gurbachan Singh Ji used to play tabla at first but because of his powerful and sweet voice, Bhai Joginder Singh Ji requested him to sing on the side with him and subsequently Bhai Gian Singh Ji joined them on tabla. Bhai Joginder Singh Ji used to accompany Bhai Santa Singh Ji on his side before forming his own jatha. Each one of them complemented the other perfectly.
The jatha of Bhai Joginder Singh, Bhai Gurbachan Singh Ji and Bhai Gian Singh Ji were one of the most talented jathas of their time.
